The most perfect combination- Italy and food. I have a serious passion for both so when they are combined I am the happiest person alive. With Italian food, you notice the freshness and the Mediterranean elements keeping it light and colourful- just like Italy! There really is a link between the way you would describe Italian food and the way you would, Italy, the country. This is how I see it and so whenever I eat Italian food, I am reminded of the time I spent in Italy and the vibrant atmosphere of the country…happy, happy memories…
A few evenings ago, my family and I went for a meal at Ask Italian where every item of food we ordered was cooked to perfection and tasted divine! Ask is no small independent quirky Italian restaurant, however, I think it portrays real Italian food very well and I always enjoy my meal whenever I dine here.
We ordered an antipasti sharer board and a sharer calamari for starters. The flavours that you get from these foods are very intense and every item works perfectly together.
My brother and I particularly love calamari, it went down a treat!
For my main course I ordered (very suprisingly) the sea bass. Not usually one for having a fish dish, I thought I’d try something different. The fish was sea bass, cooked with spinach, baby tomatoes, potatoes, mushrooms and spring onions. Very tasty and actually very healthy, a perfectly Mediterranean dish.
My brother’s choice on the other hand…
Not the healthiest but still looked very tasty and towards the end of my fish I did get slight food envy over that delicious looking pizza whilst my brother was still wading through it.
My mum chose a seafood linguine which I had absolutely no food envy over. Calamari and sea bass is brave enough for me…shells in pasta?! I don’t think so.
At the end of the meal we were all pleasantly stuffed with good food and I enjoyed the rest of my evening off with a nice early night in bed.
